Facades

A facade is a shell of porcelain that is placed on the front of the tooth to give that particular tooth a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. At Tandlægerne Classensgade, we prioritize aesthetics. Treatment with facades is something we have extensive experience with. Facades can provide a beautiful and harmonious look to teeth that were previously unsatisfactory for the patient. If the teeth have been slightly crooked, discolored, or otherwise unsatisfactory for the patient, facades can help. Sometimes, treatment with facades will be preceded by orthodontic treatment in collaboration with one of our skilled partners who is an orthodontist.

When to Choose Treatment with Veneers?

The reasons for treatment with veneers can be many. Perhaps you have always found the gap between your teeth annoying. Your teeth may also have a color or shape that you are not satisfied with. These types of challenges can typically be solved with veneers. If the challenges are not so significant, an aesthetic treatment with plastic can be a good alternative. Plastic treatment can in minor cases provide an equally beautiful result. The advantage of plastic over veneers is partly the price. But plastic treatments are also much easier to repair. However, the possibilities with porcelain are greater and more extensive. If many teeth need treatment, porcelain veneers typically provide the most harmonious result. Many veneer treatments result in the teeth having a brighter appearance. A teeth whitening before treatment with veneers can therefore be a good idea sometimes.

Smile Design - How We Provide You with a Preview of the Results Before Starting

Dental veneers are typically a treatment done for aesthetic reasons. Therefore, it is crucial that you are happy with the end result. To achieve an optimal outcome, it is important to have a close dialogue between you as the patient, the dentist, and the dental technician who will be making the veneers. One way to facilitate this communication is by creating a model of the final result before starting the treatment. Sometimes this model can be tried in the mouth, and other times it may be sufficient to view the result in pictures. Regardless of the approach chosen in your case, it is important that you feel comfortable and confident about the result before the actual treatment begins.

Initially, we will typically take pictures of your teeth and your face. We do this to plan how the treatment should be organized to achieve the desired end result. This information is combined with plaster models of your teeth. This provides us with a good representation of your teeth and the face they are in, even when you are not at the clinic. Once we have established a preliminary plan, the next step is to present the plan to you. Together, we will make adjustments until you feel that you are getting the desired result. Once we have collectively determined the optimal treatment for you, we will create a model of the final result. This allows you to see what we will end up with. It makes it easier to understand the impact the treatment will have on your smile and your overall appearance.

Should I do anything special after getting veneers?

As a general rule, veneers should be treated as if they were your own teeth. They should be brushed like regular teeth and flossed around daily. However, it is important that the toothpaste you use does not contain abrasive substances as this could damage the veneers. Abrasives are typically added to toothpaste to keep teeth white. Since you now have porcelain on your teeth and porcelain does not darken over time, there is no need to use whitening toothpaste.

Veneers are made of a porcelain material and can therefore chip. If there is damage to a porcelain veneer, it is very difficult to repair to a satisfactory aesthetic result. We therefore recommend not using teeth treated with veneers to chew on hard items such as nuts or carrots. We also recommend avoiding habits such as nail biting.

As an additional safeguard for your veneers, we recommend that you have a night guard made to wear while sleeping after the veneers are applied. We do this because we know that teeth grinding increases the risk of fracturing the veneers.
